By a vote of 61-35, the Senate invoked cloture on the Baldwin substitute amendment #6487 to H.R. 8404, Respect for Marriage Act.

The Senate will convene at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

At 3:45pm on Tuesday, November 29, the Senate will proceed to roll call votes on the following:

  1. Adoption of Lee amendment #6482 (religious freedom) – 60 vote affirmative threshold.
  2. Adoption of Lankford amendment #6496 (religious liberty)
  3. Adoption of Rubio amendment #6493 (To eliminate a private right of action).
  4. The Baldwin substitute amendment #6487 will be agreed to by unanimous consent, and the Senate will vote on passage of H.R. 8404 (Respect for Marriage Act) as amended – 60 vote affirmative threshold.

Today, Leader Schumer filed cloture on the following nominations:

  1. Executive Calendar #1148, Jerry W. Blackwell to be United States District Judge for the District of Minnesota.
  2. Executive Calendar #1129, Doris L. Pryor to be United States Circuit Judge for the Seventh Circuit.

On November 17, 2022, Leader Schumer filed cloture on:

  1. Exec. Cal. #1133 Camille L. Velez-Rive to be United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico.  
  2. Exec. Cal. #1147 Anne M. Nardacci to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of New York.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, April 30th. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to ten minutes each.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on S.Res.690, an executive resolution authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of (49) certain nominations on the Executive Calendar.  If cloture is invoked on S.Res.690, all post-cloture time will be considered expired and the Senate will vote on adoption of the resolution at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Democratic Leader, no earlier than Friday, May 1st.

At approximately 1:45pm, a roll call vote on the motion to discharge S.J.Res 184, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran that have not been authorized by Congress from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (Schiff) is expected.
