The Senate convened at 12:00pm. 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #1068 Elizabeth Wilson Hanes, of Virginia, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia, vice John A. Gibney, Jr., retired.

The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm for their weekly caucus meetings.

At 2:15pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Hanes nomination. 

Additional roll call votes are possible during Tuesday’s session.

Confirmed, 59-37: Executive Calendar #1068 Elizabeth Wilson Hanes to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia.

At 5:00 PM today, the Senate will proceed to four roll call votes on the following measures in relation to the PACT Act:

  1. Paul motion to concur with amendment numbered 5184 (subject to a 60-vote affirmative threshold).
  2. Toomey motion to concur with amendment 5186 (subject to a 60-vote affirmative threshold).
  3. Blackburn motion to concur with amendment 5185 (subject to a 60-vote affirmative threshold).
  4. Motion to concur in the House amendment to S.3373, the legislative vehicle for the PACT Act (Final passage – subject to a 60-vote affirmative threshold).

Not agreed to, 7-90: Motion to concur in the House amendment to S.3373, the legislative vehicle for the PACT Act, with Paul amendment #5184 (To offset the increased spending authorized by this Act by temporarily prohibiting the expenditure of any Federal funds by the United States Agency for International Development other than spending for Israel). (60-vote affirmative threshold)

Not agreed to, 47-48: Motion to concur in the House amendment to S.3373, the legislative vehicle for the PACT Act, with Toomey amendment #5186 (To improve the Cost of War Toxic Exposures Fund). (60-vote affirmative threshold)

Not agreed to, 48-47: Motion to concur in the House amendment to S.3373, the legislative vehicle for the PACT Act, with Blackburn amendment #5185 (require the provision of care under the Veterans Community Care Program for toxic-exposed veterans). (60-vote affirmative threshold)

PASSED by a vote of 86-11: The Senate agreed to the motion to concur in the House amendment to S.3373, the legislative vehicle for the PACT Act. (60-vote affirmative threshold)

The Senate will convene at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

At 4:30 p.m. the Senate will proceed to three votes regarding Finland and Sweden joining NATO.

1. Sullivan amendment #5191.

2. Paul amendment #5192.

3. Adoption of the Resolution of Advice and Consent to Ratification

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 28th.

At 11:00am – 2 roll call votes expected:

  1. Motion to proceed to Executive Session for the consideration of S.Res.690 En Bloc Nominations
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Cal. #373, S.4344 To extend section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 for 3 years.

The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 4:00pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings and the joint meeting.

At 3:00pm, His Majesty King Charles III will address a Joint Meeting of Congress in the Hall of the House of Representatives.  Senators will assemble in the Senate Chamber at 2:20pm. Senators, led by Senate leadership, including the Secretary of the Senate and the Deputy Sergeant at Arms, will proceed to the House Chamber at 2:25pm.

At approx. 5:00pm – 1 roll call vote expected:

  1. Motion to discharge SFRC of S.J.Res.124, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Republic of Cuba that have not been authorized by Congress.
