The Senate stands adjourned until 3:00pm on Monday, September 12, 2022.

After Leader remarks the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #1033 Lara E. Montecalvo, of Rhode Island, to be United States Circuit Judge for the First Circuit.

At 5:30pm the Senate will vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #986 Salvador Mendoza, Jr., of Washington, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.

Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #1043 Arianna J. Freeman, of Pennsylvania, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit and vote on the motion to invoke cloture.

Cloture was filed on:

  1. Executive Calendar #986 Salvador Mendoza, Jr., of Washington, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.
  2. Executive Calendar #1043 Arianna J. Freeman, of Pennsylvania, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.
  3. Executive Calendar #1033 Lara E. Montecalvo, of Rhode Island, to be United States Circuit Judge for the First Circuit.

Leader Schumer filed cloture on Executive Calendar #1032, Sarah A. L. Merriam to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit.

Confirmed, 46-40: Confirmation of the nomination of Salvador Mendoza, Jr. to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.

Invoked, 45-44: Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Arianna J. Freeman to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.

Agreed to by Division Vote: Treaties Cal. #4 – Extradition Treaty with the Republic of Croatia (Treaty Doc. No. 116-2).

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

At  11:30am, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Arianna J. Freeman to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.
  2. Motion to Invoke Cloture on the nomination of Lara E. Montecalvo to be United States Circuit Judge for the First Circuit.

The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm for the weekly party caucus lunches.

  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Cal. #373, S.4344 To extend section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 for 3 years.

The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 4:00pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings and the joint meeting.

At 3:00pm, His Majesty King Charles III will address a Joint Meeting of Congress in the Hall of the House of Representatives.  Senators will assemble in the Senate Chamber at 2:20pm. Senators, led by Senate leadership, including the Secretary of the Senate and the Deputy Sergeant at Arms, will proceed to the House Chamber at 2:25pm.

At approx. 5:00pm – 1 roll call vote expected:

  1. Motion to discharge SFRC of S.J.Res.124, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Republic of Cuba that have not been authorized by Congress.
