The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #908, Kate Elizabeth Heinzelman, of New York, to be General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency, post-cloture.

11:45am the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Heinzelman nomination. Following the nomination, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #968, Julianna Michelle Childs, of South Carolina, to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit.

At 1:45pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Childs nomination. If cloture is invoked, the vote on confirmation is expected to occur next week.

Cloture was filed on the following:

  1. Executive Calendar #908 Kate Elizabeth Heinzelman, of New York, to be General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency.
  2. Executive Calendar #968 Julianna Michelle Childs, of South Carolina, to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Senator Durbin filed cloture on the following nominations: 

  1. Executive Calendar #1035 Nina Nin-Yuen Wang to be US District Judge for the District of Colorado.
  2. Executive Calendar #988 Nancy Maldonado to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

Confirmed, 50-41: Executive Calendar #908, Kate Elizabeth Heinzelman, of New York, to be General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency, vice Courtney Elwood.

Invoked, 58-33: Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #968, Julianna Michelle Childs to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The Senate confirmed the following nominations by voice vote:

  1. Alexander Mark Laskaris to be US Ambassador Extraordinary to the Republic of Chad.
  2. Margaret C. Whitman to be US Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya.
  3. Michael J. Adler to be US Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan.
  4. John T. Godfrey to be US Ambassador to the Republic of the Sudan.
  5. Stephen Henley Locher to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Iowa.
  6. Michael Cottman Morgan to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce.

The Senate will convene at 3:00pm on Monday, July18, 2022. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Nina Nin-Yuen Wang to be United States District Judge for the District of Colorado.

At approximately 5:30pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Wang nomination.

By unanimous consent, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of the following nominations at time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader.

  • Cathy Ann Harris to be Chairman of the Merit Systems Protection Board.
  • Bernadette M. Meehan to be Ambassador to the Republic of Chile.
  • Julianna Michelle Childs to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit.
