By a vote of 68-29, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Scott Bessent to be Secretary of the Treasury.

Cloture Invoked, 97-0: Motion to Invoke Cloture on the nomination of Sean Duffy to be Secretary of Transportation.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

At 12:00 Noon, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination of Sean Duffy to be Secretary of Transportation.

Following disposition of the Duffy nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:00pm for the weekly party caucus lunches.

At 2:15pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.23 – Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act.

Leader Thune filed cloture on the following nominations:

Douglas Collins, of Georgia, to be Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Lee Zeldin, of New York, to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Douglas Burgum, of North Dakota, to be Secretary of the Interior.

Christopher Wright, of Colorado, to be Secretary of Energy.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

At 11:00am, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency for a term of five years.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Whitney D. Hermandorfer to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

If cloture is invoked on the Hermandorfer nomination, all post-cloture time will be considered expired, and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination at a time to be determined on Monday July 14th by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Democratic Leader.

At approximately 1:45pm, if cloture is invoked, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of the Gould nomination.
