The Senate convened for the Second Session of the 117th Congress at 12:00 Noon. 

Cloture was filed on the nomination of Anne Witkowsky to be an Assistant Secretary of State for Conflict and Stabilization Operations. The vote on the Sanchez nomination will now occur on Tuesday at 12:00 noon, after which the Senate will recess to accommodate the Tuesday luncheons. 

At 12:17 PM, the Senate adjourned.

Floor Schedule

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 4th. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Aaron Christian Peterson to be United States District Judge for the District of Alaska, post-cloture.

 

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Aaron Christian Peterson to be United States District Judge for the District of Alaska.
  2. The motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Megan Blair Benton to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Missouri.

 

If cloture is invoked on the Benton nomination, at approximately 2:15pm, the Senate is expected to proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Megan Blair Benton to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Missouri.
  2. The motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Brian Charles Lea to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee.

 

 

If cloture is invoked on the Lea nomination, there would be up to two hours of debate prior to a vote on confirmation of the nomination. This vote is possible during Wednesday’s session.
