The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Gregory Brian Williams to be United States District Judge for the District of Delaware.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Williams nomination.

At 2:30pm, if cloture is invoked, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Confirmation of the nomination of Gregory Brian Williams to be United States District Judge for the District of Delaware.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Natasha C. Merle to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.

The Senate convened and proceeded with Leader remarks.

Invoked, 52-43: Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #989 Gregory Brian Williams to be United States District Judge for the District of Delaware.

By unanimous consent, the cloture motion with respect to Natasha C. Merle to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York was withdrawn.

Confirmed, 52-43: Executive Calendar #989 Gregory Brian Williams to be United States District Judge for the District of Delaware.

Confirmed, 51-44: Executive Calendar #920 Bernadette M. Meehan to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Chile.

Not agreed to, 34-63: Motion to proceed to S.Con.Res.43, a concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2023 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2024 through 2032.

Leader Schumer filed cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment, to the Senate amendment, to H.R.4346, the legislative vehicle for the CHIPS Act, with further amendment (Senate Amendment 5135).

Executive Calendar #996 Carmen G. Cantor to be an Assistant Secretary of the Interior was confirmed by voice vote.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

At 11:30am, the Senate will vote on confirmation of Reuben E. Brigety II to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of South Africa.

Additional votes are possible but are not yet scheduled.

The Senate adjourned at 8:46pm.

Floor Schedule

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, April 30th. Following Leader Remarks, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to ten minutes each.

At approximately 11:30am, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on S.Res.690, an executive resolution authorizing the en bloc consideration in Executive Session of (49) certain nominations on the Executive Calendar.  If cloture is invoked on S.Res.690, all post-cloture time will be considered expired and the Senate will vote on adoption of the resolution at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Democratic Leader, no earlier than Friday, May 1st.

At approximately 1:45pm, a roll call vote on the motion to discharge S.J.Res 184, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran that have not been authorized by Congress from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (Schiff) is expected.

Additional votes are possible during Thursday’s session of the Senate. A whip alert will be sent when more information is available.
