The Senate completed the Rule 14 process to place the following bills on the Legislative Calendar of Business:

  1. S.1395, to temporarily suspend the debt limit through December 31, 2024.
  2. H.R.2811 Limit, Save, Grow Act

By a vote of 65-34, the Senate invoked cloture on Executive Calendar #121 Michael Farbiarz, of New Jersey, to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, vice Noel Lawrence Hillman, retired.

By a vote of 57-42, the Senate invoked cloture on Executive Calendar #122 Robert Kirsch to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15pm.

Confirmed, 65-34: Executive Calendar #121 Michael Farbiarz to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey.

Confirmed, 57-42: Executive Calendar #122 Robert Kirsch to be United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey.

By a vote of 51-48, cloture was invoked on Executive Calendar #123 Orelia Eleta Merchantto be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023.

11:30am – 2 votes:

  1. Confirmation of Exec. Cal. #123 Orelia Eleta Merchant to be US District Judge for the Eastern District of New York.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on Exec. Cal. #127 Wesley L. Hsu to be US District Judge for the Central District of California.

6:15pm – 4 votes:

  1. Passage of H.J.Res.39, Solar Tariff CRA.
  2. Passage of S.J.Res.9, Marshall Lesser Prairie-Chicken CRA.
  3. Confirmation of Exec. Cal. #127 Wesley L. Hsu to be US District Judge for the Central District of California.
  4. Motion to invoke cloture on Exec. Cal. #125 LaShonda A. Hunt to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 10th.

At 11:30am, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #608 Daniel E. Burrows to be an Assistant Attorney General.

Following the confirmation vote on the Burrows nomination, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly party caucus lunches.

During Tuesday’s session, the Senate is expected to vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.95 – A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Internal Revenue Service relating to “Interim Guidance Simplifying Application of the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax to Partnerships”.
