The Senate convened at 3:00pm.

Pete Ricketts (R) was sworn-in as the new senator for the State of Nebraska, appointed to fill the seat vacated by Senator Sasse.

By a vote of 60-35, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Brendan Owens to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.

The Senate recessed tonight at 6:27 p.m. and stands in recess until Tuesday January 24th at 10 a.m. Following leader remarks, the Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. for the weekly caucus meetings. There are no votes scheduled for Tuesday’s session at this time.

Floor Schedule

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

At 11:00am, the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes relative to the following:

  1. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Jonathan Gould to be Comptroller of the Currency for a term of five years.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Whitney D. Hermandorfer to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

If cloture is invoked on the Hermandorfer nomination, all post-cloture time will be considered expired, and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination at a time to be determined on Monday July 14th by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Democratic Leader.

At approximately 1:45pm, if cloture is invoked, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on confirmation of the Gould nomination.
