Confirmed, 68-30: Confirmation of Executive Calendar #19 Radha Iyengar Plumb to be a Deputy Under Secretary of Defense.

Invoked, 58-40: Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #57 Amy Lefkowitz Solomon to be an Assistant Attorney General.

Confirmed, 59-40: Confirmation of Executive Calendar #57 Amy Lefkowitz Solomon to be an Assistant Attorney General.

By unanimous consent, the cloture motion with respect to S. 870 was withdrawn. At 4:30pm today, the Senate will vote on adoption of Lee amendment #80 (60-vote affirmative threshold).

At a time to be determined by the Majority Leader, in consultation with the Republican Leader, the Senate will proceed to up to six roll call votes on the following:

  1. Adoption of Scott (FL) amendment #81 (60-vote affirmative threshold)
  2. Adoption of Hagerty amendment #72, as modified (60-vote affirmative threshold)
  3. Adoption of Van Hollen amendment #85 (60-vote affirmative threshold)
  4. Adoption of Sullivan amendment #83
  5. Adoption of Paul amendment #79
  6. Passage of Cal. #28, S.870, Fire Grants and Safety Act (as amended, if amended) (60-vote affirmative threshold)

Not agreed to, 49-50: Lee amendment #80 (to make a categorical exclusion available for use on certain land by States and Indian Tribes through a project delivery program) to S.870, Fire Grants and Safety Act.

Leader Schumer asked unanimous consent that the Senate agree to a resolution that would allow Sen. Dianne Feinstein to be temporarily replaced on the Judiciary Committee by Sen. Ben Cardin. Sen. Graham objected.

The Senate will convene at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

At 11:30am the Senate will proceed to two roll call votes on the following in relation to S.870, Fire Grants and Safety Act:

  1. Adoption of Paul amendment #79 to improve the bill.            
  2. Adoption of Hagerty amendment #72 to improve the bill, as modified. (60-vote affirmative threshold).

At 4:15pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to proceed to S.J.Res.10 – A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Veterans Affairs relating to “Reproductive Health Services.”

The Senate adjourned at 6:20pm.
